K1 – shakedown

A s honestly as it comes – Fantastic is a word that springs to mind, maybe Awesome, followed by fast, consistant, quiet, well balanced and some others.

Issues – yes I had a couple.

I. I pulled a ball cup off teh bottome of a shock shaft, screwed it back on and pulled it off again. Ran some superglue into it and it which seemed to tighten it up – didn’t have the problem with teh other 3 shocks. Switched to the small bores I had as an option for the Cougar (same shock as the K1) and had no problem with them – conclusion – maybe a suspect ball cup, suspect thread on the shock shaft or I damaged it in a crash (I had a few) and once damaged I should have replaced it with a new one.

2. I poped a ball cup on the steering twice, both the same side and both on the same protruding pipe on the left hander out of the dipper – driver error I suppose – the standard Schumacher ball cups have never been an issue in the past.

In conclusion, it’s early days yet suffice to say I went a few laps a bit quicker than I have ever gone before (still slow) and did many more consistant laps than I could manage with the SX3. I’m enthusiastic, I believe Schumacher have the real deal here. Can’t wait for the new racing season in 2013 – stock or mod is the only question.

One Response to K1 – shakedown

  1. heavy says:

Had another quick run with my K1 on Friday and certainly does go well, just wish my driving was able to do it justice.

I will be putting a stock motor in for the next run so I can compare times with the times I did with the SX3 in stock at the AE Masters event. Whatever the times are I know the consistancy (for me)is better.

Just got to get a good body painted for both my cars now.
