F1 series Brisbane – the way ahead ?

The following was posted by Shane Hyde as a comment on a seperate post but thought it worthy of a post of it’s own.

Guys and Girls

I thinking of a UF1 type event to be held seperatly from our Normal Race Nights and possibly at different tracks

Possibly 3 events on Sundays spread other the year

Class 21.5 blinky only, rubber tyres .

Fastest 3 laps during a 3 min practise session (4 cars each session)
gives starting position for the first of 4 x 15 min Finals, 2 pit stops required for each final ( 15 sec stop only) points will be given on fastest times from your best 3 rounds.

What are your thoughts ?

Could we run it on the Saturday of the Interclubs – not as part of the Interclub but the Saturday is always a small day – say a demo class type of thing. That way we get the Harvey Bay boys as well and might encourage some other clubs to offer F1.

  2. Sounds like a great idea guys. Let me know the details if it goes ahead and I’ll promote on RCformula1.com.au

We’ve been trialling a 15 min main with 2 pit stops at TFTR in Vic and this has been very well received by racers.

    Cheers

Sounds good but how is the pit stop done. Do you need a pit crew or is it just a go stop for 15 seconds?

  4. Shane Hyde says:

The pit stop will be timed by a race official.

Only 1 car to pit at a time.
    Any more ideas ?

    Shane

As an F1 owner and yet to be racer I’ll be happy to try any format that involves a dry track. 15 minute finals will be a great test.

It would be great if the Fraser Coast boys could be involved.

I assume an F1 is light on battery and will make 15 minutes with a shorty pack.

  7. Shane Hyde says:

Yes 4200 should make the distance

I’ll gave it a try last saturady afternoon
got to 12mins and unglued a tyre

The 21.5 was fairly warm though

I put 2985ma back into the pack.

Yes I would hope Fasier Coast could host a round

  12. Brad Palmer says:

Thats great Wayne – but no rolling over the top of me OK

  13. Duncan Donuts says:

These things are like bums, everyone has got one!

It’ll be great to run against the old 21.5ers again. Speaking of old 21.5, I tested the Speed Passion V2 on the weekend and it seems to work OK

Wayne, surely you have one in a cupboard somewhere?
